I’m Lorraine, a qualified counsellor, coach, mentor, hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner. My focus as a therapist is to help women be all that they can be – obviously this can mean very different things for different women, but I believe we all have the potential to achieve our goals whatever they may be. In addition to my private therapy practice I am also a volunteer counsellor for a local charity and a helpline listener for women who have experienced trauma.
I changed my life
For many years I worked in the corporate sector in Communications and HR; I also taught English and Business and Management Studies to FE students and was a high school mentor. Over the years I managed a number of successful and high performing teams but was always struck by how many of the women I met or worked with had self-doubt about their ability and were held back because of it.
Several years ago I had burn out, was depressed and felt very negative about the future. After many years of keeping all of those plates spinning, working very long hours and still not feeling good enough I lost my way. Inevitably it started to affect my health and I decided something had to change. To cut a long story short, I saw a counsellor (after searching for the right one for me), which in many ways changed my life because it changed the way I thought about myself and others. I got back to work but then re trained, initially as a coach and subsequently as a counsellor and hypnotherapist.
I’ve had my fair share of life’s ups and downs, I’ve been made redundant several times, I’ve been through bereavement, divorce, unemployment, infertility and other significant life changes, so I feel qualified not solely in a professional sense, but on a personal level to empathise and support other women on their life journey.
Professional and qualified
I’m a lifelong learner, there’s always new insight to be gained in terms of why we might think and behave the way we do. So, it’s very important to me as a therapist to be well qualified and to regularly attend courses on continuing professional development. I am a professional accredited member of the National Counselling Society and the National Hypnotherapy Society, I am fully insured as a therapist and have listed my therapy qualifications below.
